Questions

What is the WhatsApp video size limit?

16 MB for a video sent as media, says WhatsApp's own help centre. Pick a bigger one and the app offers to trim it. We checked on 27 October 2026.

Why not just trim it in WhatsApp?

Trimming cuts the end off. Compressing keeps every second and lowers the bitrate and resolution instead.

How long a video fits?

About 40 seconds stays at 1080p, a minute and a half at 720p, and up to about 7 minutes at 480p. Longer than that, and the tool tells you before it starts.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Nothing is uploaded. Your browser reads the video, shrinks it and saves the new file, all on your device. Private clips stay private.
