Questions

What is an ASS file?

Advanced SubStation Alpha. Unlike SRT it stores styles: font, size, colours, outline, position and effects. Fansubs, Aegisub and ffmpeg burn in use it.

Will my subtitles look different?

They get one simple style to start from. Change the font, colour or position in the [V4+ Styles] section, or open the file in Aegisub.

Can I burn ASS subtitles into a video?

Yes. ffmpeg with libass reads it directly, styles and all. Most desktop players like VLC and mpv show it too.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Nothing is uploaded. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. It even works offline once the page has loaded.
