Questions

Where do VTT files come from?

Web video. Online courses, webinar recordings, Vimeo and many players store captions as VTT, and browser extensions often save them that way.

Are speaker and karaoke tags removed?

Yes. Tags like <v Sam> and word timestamps like <00:00:01.200> are stripped, leaving only what was said.

Will repeated lines show up twice?

Each cue becomes one line. Auto generated VTT sometimes repeats a line across two cues; you will see that repeat in the text too.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Nothing is uploaded. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. It even works offline once the page has loaded.
