Clipped Cloud Privacy Policy

Clipped Cloud is the web service at clipped.cc/app that turns your long videos into short clips. It is run by Salvatore Castellitti, an individual developer based in Italy, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at s.castellitti.dev@gmail.com.

This policy covers Clipped Cloud only. The Clipped app for iPhone and iPad works on your device and has its own privacy policy.

• Your account: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple. We never see your Google or Apple password.
• Your videos: the videos you upload, and the clips, thumbnails, transcripts, titles, captions and edits made from them.
• Your choices: the clip options and caption style you pick, so the next video starts the way you like.
• Usage: how many credits each video used, when jobs ran and whether they worked, so we can count your credits and fix what breaks.
• Payments: your plan, its renewal date and an order reference. Card details go to our payment provider, never to us.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser details, kept briefly in server logs and used to limit abuse, such as too many sign in attempts.

When you clip a video:

• It is uploaded to our private storage over an encrypted connection.
• Our servers make a small, low resolution copy and an audio track, and send them to Google's Gemini AI, which watches and listens to find the best moments and writes the transcript for the captions.
• Our servers cut the clips, frame them and add captions.

We use Google's paid Gemini API, under terms that do not let Google use your videos or transcripts to train its models. No person looks at your videos unless you ask us for help with a specific one.

• To provide the service you asked for (performance of our contract with you): your account, processing your videos, keeping your clips, counting credits and billing.
• To keep the service safe and working (our legitimate interest): preventing abuse, fixing errors and understanding costs.
• To meet legal duties (legal obligation): tax and accounting records.

• The video you upload is deleted as soon as its clips are made. An upload that never becomes a job is deleted within a day.
• Working copies made during processing are deleted when the job ends, and within a day at most.
• Clips are kept for 30 days on a paid plan and 7 days on Free, then deleted. If you cancel, your clips stay until 7 days after your paid period ends. No clip is kept longer than 60 days. You can delete any clip yourself sooner.
• Your account is kept until you delete it from the account menu, which removes it, your clips and your files right away.
• Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires, usually 10 years in Italy.

We use these providers to run Clipped Cloud. Each one only gets what it needs for its job:

• Vercel: hosts the website and the app, and counts page visits without cookies.
• Turso: our database (your account, jobs, clip details and settings).
• Cloudflare R2: stores your uploads and clips.
• Modal: runs the servers that process your videos.
• Google (Gemini API): the AI that finds moments and transcribes speech.
• Polar: sells the plans and credit packs as merchant of record, and handles payment, VAT and invoices under its own privacy policy.
• Vevee: counts the credits and usage on your account.
• Resend: sends your sign in codes and the email when your clips are ready.
• Google and Apple sign in: only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Telegram: error alerts to the developer, which hold short ids and error codes, never your email or your videos.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU US Data Privacy Framework.

We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember things like a still frame of the video you are processing. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.

Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to or limit how we use it. You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, at any time: open the account menu in the app and choose Delete account. For any other request, email s.castellitti.dev@gmail.com from the address you sign in with. We reply within 30 days.

If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Your videos and clips sit in private storage and are only reachable through links that expire within an hour. Sign in uses one time codes, so there is no password to steal.

Clipped Cloud is not meant for children. You must be at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account.

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update this page and its date, and email you before the change takes effect.
